I attempted to get a metric century
in last week.
Thursday was a decent day for biking. With appointments spread out through the day, a scheduling nightmare. Between appointments time was spent on my bike. I amassed a measely 25 miles in two rides. Not nearly as much as I wanted. Time dictated my distance<--- bummer. I did get to take 4 showers tho'.
Friday was a night for trail work at our local stomping grounds. The trails are looking good for this time of year. Quite dry and not too much debris. We worked on an area that gathers water and makes a mud pit for most of the riding season. Clearing what was preventing the water from draining and building a new trail around the muddy area.
Greg hard at work, my kid behind the lens.
A sweet new trail for all to enjoy.
Saturday I set out a mission to log over 60 miles. The f1rst 30 had 2500′ of climbing at we fleww through them. By mile 48 I was dying. My legs were heavy and hurting, I experienced my first cramp of the year.. in my hip. I attempted to maintain a good speed and finish as strong as possible but hurt the entire time. The closer I got home the less I cared about total mileage. I finished with just under 60, begging for help to get into the house. I have not gone this hard in a while maybe a full season since the last time.
When all was done I ate all I could find. 20 or so ounces of chocolate milk, five egg omelete, an almond joy bar, cranberry juice, and a gel pack. An hour and a half later I downed a diet coke, a cheeseburger, mashed potatoes, green beans and cake. I am such a fat ass waiting to happen.
Still a bit sore Sunday I didn’t dare ride my bike. Mon maybe…. definately Tuesday.
