2009 Beverly Gran Prix - Crit
Funny how while you’re racing you feel like you can’t go any faster. Then when it’s all over all you think about is how you could have gone faster. I managed to stay with the lead pack for most of the race. With about 10 to go, I noticed the gap was growing when on the straights. I worked to stay in contact but in the end I chose the wrong tire to sit on. When I looked up after the final turn on the fast section there was a large gap. I jumped to try to bridge and could not. I tryed for 2 more laps and ended up being pulled with 7 to go. I can’t be mad, I rode hard and still placed. Much faster than the track. Makes we want to go in more break aways at the track.
Super fast and technical course. Really suited my riding style, just not strong enough that day. For a first year event it was top notch and organized.
I stayed to watch the women and elite men race. Both good races. The elite men were fast as hell. A break went out early and managed to stay until the end. Photos below and video and video at the bottom.

The guy (in the first photo)in the blue kit didn’t catch salmon trousers before the line. He shamefully stood below him on the podium.
