Three weeks of low intensity riding is not what I needed
I raced Wed night and fell the farthest back in the pack I have been. It was not fun being 2 (could have been 3) chase groups back. A lack of high intensity riding as of late, (due to work, travel and life) has left me feeling weak and unsure of how hard I can push for how long. Now comes what may very well be my final race of the season. Saturday is the NE Velodrome Velo-Cross Challenge, I’m racing and surely going to feel slow.
The real question is when my race will turn into a ride. When will I hit the wall and have nothing left but momentum. Lets, yes lets hope that doesn’t happen at all. Maybe I will surprise myself and ride at vomit threshold for the entire race. Once my first one is over, I will do it again in the afternoon. Honestly, I’m looking forward to it.
Now if my bashgaurd would arrive in the mail I wouldn’t be losing sleep over my chain dropping.

A few more Interbike East photos
I was on the phone, at the Chris King booth when a Spooky team ride rolled up on a prototype bike. A Slalom bike to be specific. I saw this bike before on a local forum. it is Mickey’s new Dirt Crab 4x bike. It looks tight and right.. but how does it ride?
After I snapped the first photo I snapped, Matt Green (Spooky rider) offered to let me ride his. Even though I felt the bars were a bit wide, and I only road it for all of 5 minutes, the bike turned on a dime. The rear end is super short and manualed well. I think Mickey was going for all these things. He was building a bike to race slalom afterall. it could use a shorter fork tho’.
Check out the photos, buy one next year if you feel so inclined. Send Mickey love letters about the bike, or hate letters.
