To Hell with tradition

It’s a tradition. Like a robot I do the same exact thing every year.

That’s what it sounds llike to me when people talk about tradition.

Every year we do this, or that..

Don’t they realize you get one shot on this rock?

Please do not think I hate all tradition.. only the vacant ones. When people tell me they eat at the same place every holiday, vacation in the same town or piss on their neighbors leg every year at the same time becuase of tradition I bawk. Are these folks afraid of change? Do they fear the unkown? I look forward to each new trip, meal and adventure my life brings. I have no fear of the new or unknown. Well of course you’re talking about death. That subject keeps me up at night.

With the new year here and I encourage you to say the hell with tradition. Do something new and out of character. Experience a different view of the world.

I dare you.

I know this should be about bikes. I have a photo for you below to meet your needs.

The abandoned bikes in Boston become more evident when it snows. Days later… still covered.

The 1-mile solution

The idea is simple: Find your home on a map. Draw a circle with a 1-mile radius around your home. Try to replace one car trip per week within that circle by riding a bicycle or walking. At an easy riding pace you can travel one mile on a bicycle in about seven minutes. Walking takes about 20 minutes at an easy pace.

One mile is all it takes to get started. One mile is all it takes to begin making a real difference in your health. One mile is all it takes to begin making a real difference to your pocketbook.

One mile is all it takes to begin saving America.

“What is striking about biking is not that it solves any particular problem but, instead, that is it part of the solution to several.” — J. Harry Wray
